This Cape Ann kitchen conversion in Gloucester, MA was a complete reimagining of a classic coastal home kitchen.

The goal? To blend modern functionality with timeless New England character — capturing the charm of Cape Ann while introducing refined design, smart storage, and luxury finishes.

The homeowners wanted a brighter, open space where they could entertain family and enjoy ocean-inspired tranquility.

Design Vision & Approach

The existing kitchen had potential: solid structure, ocean views, and historical charm. Our design-build team, led by Jesse DeBenedictis, created a plan that transformed the space into a functional, luminous centerpiece for the home.

Design Goals:

  • Open up the kitchen to natural light
  • Integrate luxury finishes that reflect coastal living
  • Create a seamless connection between kitchen, dining, and outdoor space
  • Use durable, weather-conscious materials suited for Cape Ann’s coastal environment

Construction & Custom Features

  1. Layout Conversion – We removed an outdated wall, creating an open-concept flow between kitchen and dining.
  2. Custom Cabinetry – Handcrafted shaker-style cabinets in satin white, featuring maple interiors and brushed nickel hardware.
  3. Island Redesign – Installed a quartz-topped island with built-in storage and concealed power outlets — both elegant and practical.
  4. Lighting Transformation – Recessed and under-cabinet LED lighting enhanced brightness and ambiance.
  5. Coastal Finishes – Soft color palette inspired by ocean tones: White Sandstone, Driftwood Gray, and Sea Mist Blue.
